OB Appointment - 37 Weeks

Todays OB appointment didn't answer as many questions as I was hoping for, we are still just waiting to see what next week brings. Ella is still breech so Steph will go back next Wednesday to check again. If Ella is still breech next Wednesday than we will have a C-Section on May 18th. Steph is now 1cm dilated. This makes me really nervous because if Steph's body goes into labor on it's own than we will have an emergency C-Section. I'm feeling really tired and stressed but thankful that we are now 37 weeks and full term!

Hi Melissa and Steph :-)
Take heart! As a labor and delivery RN, I can tell you that I think its quite miraculous that Steph's cervix has been closed up tight until now! With 6 pregnancies, and 2 twin gestations under her belt (no pun intended, hahaha), that is truly remarkable. So in my professional opinion - 1 cm at 37 weeks with twins is perfectly okay! Good job, Steph!

And I can also say, that unless the babies were in distress, or there were other extenuating circumstances, if Steph goes into labor on her own, and the babies are still breech, then the c-section wouldn't be "emergent", just imminent. They might even be able to delay it until you, Darin, and the girls could get there. (it only takes 4 hours, right?) That's provided Steph doesn't have exceptionally fast labors...

I think this is something that you could feesibly discuss with Steph's OB, and come up with a tentative plans. Of course, as with all pregnancies, labor and delivery, you'd need to be flexible with planning. But you already know that :-)

I hope Ella flips, and that Steph's able to deliver vaginally. But the most important thing (goes without saying) is that Steph and the babies all come through delivery healthy :-)

Thinking of you all!

Thanks Kristy for the kind words! I have an overwhelming calm over me right now. I can tell she has moved since last week, just not quite down to head down (as the doc could feel her hip bones). I am ok either way. I just want these sweethearts to be born healthy and when they are ready. I was pretty freaked about a C-section but it really isn't in my hands (haha, pun intended). God has the last say in all this and I trust he will bring Darin and Melissa's babies to them safely!

Melissa--everything will be ok. Trust that. If at any point you need to get on the road, I will let you know immediately. Until then, I will take really good care of E and E. LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Way to go all of you!! 37 weeks!!
I'm so glad Steph is not freaked about a c-section, really worse things have happened. No, it's no t ideal, but it's not the end of the world either.

At least try to rest, the babies will be here soon whether you're rested or not!

Sweetheart - all will be fine. So many friends are pulling for you and Darin, I know it is all going to work out. Stephanie is a miracle woman and I am so happy you found her. I will be checking frequently to see the progress. Rest and be happy, you all are going to need it.

Kristy is right !
As a NICU RN I get to scrub in and catch and jump start the babies from c-sec's as part of my job. I just went to 4 sections yesterday and one was a 36 and 4 day, twin delivery. They were perfect. 37 plus weeks is so awesome. Hang in there and try not to worry to much .... I know that you balance your worry with large amounts of amazement and joy! I am in awe of you and so honored to share the journey of your beautiful family. Love to all, Bethel

Hey there, congrats on making the 37 week mark! Your term...what a huge relief that must all be for all of you.

I wouldn't worry about the 1cm just yet, some people can be that for weeks, before getting any signs of labor.

Still hoping baby A turns for ya, but if not I know you guys will all support each other and Steph through the c-section and she will have a great delivery no matter what way it goes!

You all are just an amazing team!
